Disney's Aladdin is a 1994 side-scrolling platform game developed by SIMS Co., Ltd. for the Sega Game Gear and Sega Master System. It's a quite different game in terms of level design and missions compared to the 1992 release for the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis by Virgin Interactive Games. The game has appealing graphics for its time.

AladdinSTORY / GAMEPLAY
Aladdin must fight his way through a variety of levels based on the synonymous movie's locations. You, as Aladdin, start off the streets and rooftops of Agrabah, pass through the Cave of Wonders and the Sultan's dungeon to the final confrontation in Grand Vizier Jafar's palace. Before advancing to the next level you must find a key to unlock the exit door. The game has plenty of action and dash scenes and mostly involves killing enemies with basic swords play and jumping over ledges and rooftops! There are several other hazards around like bouncing barrels, falling objects and deadly pits. The enemies vary from Sultan's guards to wild animals. Apart from a sword, Aladdin can collect apples (!) and throw them towards an enemy rendering him dizzy for a short time! Gems can be also collected and traded for extra lives with some merchants. Note that Aladdin can also go through some bonus stages by collecting a Genie or an Abu icon (Genie offers a bonus stage played with apples and gems while Abu has you control a little monkey to collect bonuses falling from the sky!)
Overall, the game is rather difficult and can easily become frustrating when jumping over hundreds of platforms and rooftops to find that damn key! You may easily fall and start all over again climbing. Fortunately you have unlimited continues and there are even several checkpoints to restart your effort. Besides its high level of difficult, the game is a real gem in any video game console or home computer!

GRAPHICS / SOUND
Aladdin sports great background graphics, taken directly from the original cartoon movie, along with some detailed and smoothly moving sprites. The characters are large and greatly animated making Aladdin one of the most technically attractive games for the Sega Game Gear. The game's sound is equally great, with tunes borrowed straight from the movie combined with some catchy sound effects.
